Is the term "worldly" outdated?
by A.proclaimer inyesterday i had to listen to the co from a spanish congregation on the phone.
he said the fds has been gradually moving away from the word "worldly" and teaching jws not to use the term anymore.
has anyone heard this in their congregation or heard the term "non-believers" used before?

As I said in my first 'hello' post. My story isn't finished yet. So I do understand where you are coming from, but, all I can add to the other replies you have had is. . Heartache. . happiness. . heartache. . tentative happiness. . heartache. . .hopes-up. . devastation. . happiness. . heartbreak.. . Unfortunately this is the never ending roller coaster you are in for if you really love this girl. -

Where the real abuse lies.
by ctrwtf inlet me start with a disclaimer: i am in no way minimizing the horrific crimes done to children by pedophiles.
i'm not downplaying the number of lives lost due to the blood issue, or hearts broken because of shunning.
i do not want to discount the feelings of those who have come to the end of their lives with expectations of paradise postponed.. but to me the biggest atrocity committed by this awful cult is raising children from a small age to believe that soon god will kill billions of people.

A friend of mine (non-JW) told me about her son. He was only 5yrs at the time. He came home from school one day and asked his mum, '. ........ says she's never going to die, but God will kill me. Why?'
How do you explain that to a 5yr who is now extremely worried about his own mortality after chatting to a JW school friend?

Why does Antoine Leiris' powerful tribute to his wife, killed by ISIS in the Paris attacks, bother me so much?
by nicolaou inhere is the translation of monsieur leiris' words;.
friday night, you took an exceptional life - the love of my life, the mother of my son - but you will not have my hatred.
i don't know who you are and i don't want to know, you are dead souls.

I cannot add to anything you have said. You said it very well Nic. This heart wrenching, desperately sad, anger provoking story is one that must be being relived 128 more times in France tonight. All I feel I can say, is that, Monsieur Leiris is a very brave man. He is not giving the 'people' that killed his wife what they want, which is the anger. They haven't made him angry. They have not made him fuel his life with hatred. They have made him fill his life with love, love for his wife and love for his son, in turn, his sons life will be full of love. They have failed. Failed to murder the love of a family. My thoughts are with all. -

Please could you give me your opinions on this statement? . . .
by Miss Worldly in'i have prayed, and confessed my sins to my god, i'm not telling them (the elders) anything'.
.. could this be a significant sign that there maybe a small dent in the armour of an active jw?
or is it just a case of 'keep your nose out' ?

JTG - having never been nor never will be a JW, I do see your point about piling on the guilt. I can see it as plain as day. I'm sure it is used as a tool for control. Guilt and fear seem to go hand in hand.
The guilt propels the confession, but confession holds the fear of losing everything and everyone.
So confessing only to God eases both the guilt and the fear? As well as not rocking the boat, causing trouble for yourself and having everyone knowing your business?
Magnum and Lisa Rose - I understand what you mean about rationalising their thoughts, but could this mean that, in their mind, they know, their 'sin' is something that wouldn't even raise an eyebrow in the non-JW world? Or that the sin, if confessed, would lead to losing everything? . . . Hmmm, I guess that really depends on the sin! Sorry, I think I've answered my own question there!!!
I am sorry if this seems like rambling, I find it easier to arrange my thoughts by writing them down, if that makes any sense whatsoever! I'm trying to keep it short. And Thank you all once again for taking the time to answer my query.

Thanks everyone, I thought this may be the case. I did see it as a sign of strength. And 'not rocking the boat' could be right.
divergent - yes, I am pretty sure there has been a bad experience in the past.
it was more the 'My God' bit that stumped me. . .
. Or just maybe it's my wishful thinking!

Thanks Smiddy, I've found it on Amazon.
Although I know he has his doubts, he does try to quash them. We are very open with each other but, I don't want to push my point of view. I think he needs to find out for himself. I will stand by him. Quite where this will lead me, I don't know.
i just feel it's important for me to be prepared, to expand my knowledge of what is happening. To try and see some of what goes on in his head. Don't they say 'knowledge is power'?
Thanks again.

Thank you for the kind welcome.
To cut a very long story short, my partner is Df'd. He was Df'd when we met, but very much 'still in' in his mind set. We face problems everywhere we turn, his conscience, guilt and fear. . . I don't fully understand, I'm trying, he is torn.
I hope this goes someway to explain why I'm here. . .
